Ports Department and Multitech Sdn Bhd ink a new Twin Screw Multiprupose 50 Ton Billard Pull Tug

The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam represented by the Ports Department, Ministry of Communications and Multitech Sdn Bhd signed a contract agreement for “The Design, Construction, Commissioning and Delivery of a Twin Screw Multipurpose 50 Ton Bollard Pull Tug” on 4 March 2010.

The Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia, Tuan Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia, Tuan Haji Mahmud bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Senior Officers from Ministry of Communications and Departments under the Ministry of Communications.

The event was attended by Haji Razali bin Johari, President of Shipping Association of Brunei Darussalam (SABD).

The event was also attended by senior officials from Attorney General’s Chambers, Department of Economic Planning and Development and Council members of SABD.

The ceremony began with the speech from Haji Awang Bujang bin Haji Tinkong, Acting Director of Ports. The ceremony followed by contract signing.

Signing on behalf of Ports Department was Haji Awang Bujang bin Haji Tinkong, Acting Director of Ports, while Multitech Sdn Bhd was represented by Mr Gwee Peng Hong, Managing Director. Present to witness the signing ceremony was the Guest of Honour.

Ports Department has awarded Multitech Sdn Bhd for “The Design, Construction, Commissioning and Delivery of a Twin Screw Multipurpose 50 Ton Bollard Pull Tug”. The purchase of this new tug is one of Ports Department’s project under the National Development Plan which cost B$7.2 Million. The new tug will be constructed within 14 months. The new tug is an additional fleet to the existing three (3) tug boats owned to Ports Department. According to statistics, vessels call to Muara Port has been increasing over the years. In 2007, the vessels call was 1,802; in 2008, 1,970 and in 2009, 1,726 respectively. With the new fleet, it will provide better tug services to the foreign vessels for berthing/unberthing at Muara Port.

Multitech Sdn Bhd was incorporated in Brunei Darussalam on 29 June 2000. The company provides consultancy services, project management and the supply of specialized materials.
