Ladies and Gentlemen,
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi
Wabarakatuh and very good afternoon
At the outset, today marked another
significant milestone for Ports
Department, Ministry of Communications
whereby contract signing ceremony for
the Design, Construction, Commissioning
and Delivery of a Twin Screw
Multipurpose 50 Ton Bollard Pull Tug
being held. This is one of the projects
under the National Development Plan and
cost B$7.2 million to build.
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and
Gentlemen
Let me share some information regarding
the tug boat specifications. Its length
overall is 33 meters with two (2) 2,260
horse power (HP) Diesel Caterpillar
Engine that can pull with a capacity of
50 Ton Bollard Pull.
The new tug will be fully constructed
within 14 months and will be in service,
Insya Allah, in June 2011. The new tug
is an additional fleet to the existing
three (3) tug boats owned by Ports
Department.
According to Ports Department’
Statistics, vessels call to Muara Port
has been increasing over the years. In
2007, the vessels call was 1,802; in
2008, 1,970 and in 2009, 1,726
respectively. With the new fleet, Ports
Department can render an efficient tug
service to the foreign vessels including
Government and local vessels for
Berthing/Unberthing at Muara Port.
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and
Gentlemen
Before I conclude, I once again would
like to put on record our special thanks
and highest appreciation to Department
of Economic Planning and Development and
Attorney General’s Chambers for their
valuable support and assistance in
expediting the implementation of this
project.
Wabillahi Taufik Walhidayah.
Wassalamualaikum Waramatullahi
Wabarakatuh.
