The establishment of the Muara Export Zone, situated just outside the Port perimeter, is a
bold step taken by the Ports Department in it's efforts to promote and develop Brunei
Darussalam as a trade HUB of the region. Having recognized the necessity to be able to
facilitate all downstream activities which promote maritime trade and related activities,
the MEZ facilities are being offered to the private sector at very attractive rates.
There is a vast potential for the development of this facility due to the establishment of
the BIMP-EAGA region. Muara Port with it's strategic geographic location within the
BIMP-EAGA
countries, backed up by the excellent infra-structure and port equipment, will be the
future gateway to this large market which could greatly benefit from the MEZ facilities.
The intention of the Ports Department is to establish Muara Port as a regional cargo
consolidation and transhipment centre, by providing very attractive and incentive based
tariff rates to develop this large potential market.
The MEZ offers very competitive and incentive based tariff rates to encourage the
development of the trade at the MEZ. Whilst all facilities are made available by the Ports
Department, the implementation of Customs procedures are also facilitated through the
Ports Department for the convenience of the MEZ clients.
